Calle Jarnkrok suffered a sports hernia during the preseason and it put the Maple Leafs in a pretty bad spot as they ended up losing a solid bottom-six forward.
However, over the past few weeks, there have been some positive developments in regard to the forward, with a return becoming more and more likely.
Yesterday, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube made it seem as though Jarnkrok was going to be back today against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
However, it was quickly clarified that this was not going to happen as it was just too short notice for the center to find himself back in the lineup.
Thankfully, Chris Johnston reported earlier that Calle Jarnkrok will, indeed, be back on Monday against the San Jose Sharks in what will be a triumphant return for the forward.
It is unknown what line he will play on, although this is still some great news for the Maple Leafs who are just happy to get another player back.
This could also prove to be a huge development for the team when it comes to the trade deadline as the plan was to acquire a center.
With the Maple Leafs getting a center back, they may not have to go out and make any moves this time around. Even if fans would probably rather Brayden Schenn to Jarnkrok.
Either way, this gives the team some tremendous flexibility moving forward and it will certainly help them out as they go on this playoff push.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are currently on a four-game winning streak and if they win this back-to-back, then fans are definitely going to be feeling good about this final stretch of the season.
Hopefully, Jarnkrok is able to ease into the lineup and show fans what they've been missing this year.
