Maple Leafs Center Calle Jarnkrok Makes Unexpected Return To Practice
Toronto Maple Leafs center Calle Jarnkrok has been dealing with a sports hernia this season but now, it appears as though a return to action could be coming soon.
Calle Jarnkrok was as solid as they come for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season as he notched 21 points in 52 games.
However, he has missed all of this season with a sports hernia and for the most part, fans have completely forgotten about his existence.
Calle Jarnkrok practices with the Toronto Maple Leafs
Recently, there have been rumblings that Jarnkrok is hanging around his teammates again and is gearing up for a comeback.
Those rumblings were confirmed this morning by Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox who revealed that the centerman was practicing with the team.
He also reported that in a couple of weeks' time, the Maple Leafs will have a clearer timeline for Jarnkrok's return.
This is huge news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, especially with the trade deadline coming up in a few weeks from now.
The team has been angling for a third-line center, however, Jarnkrok could prove to be the solution. Of course, that's only if he is truly ready to go.
Otherwise, general manager Brad Treliving will have to stay the course and seek out someone healthy like Brock Nelson or perhaps Yanni Gourde.
Whatever the case may be, it is good to see Jarnkrok skating with the team again. There were fears that his season would be a wash but now, it looks like he could be back in time for a playoff run.
This is a developing story so we will be sure to bring you any updates as soon as they become available.
