Craig Berube's first season with the Toronto Maple Leafs has been nothing short of remarkable.

Taking over Sheldon Keefe last summer, Craig Berube putted his strategy in place with his gritty and defensive hockey style and while it took time for the team to fully buy in, the results have been very good.

The new Toronto Maple leafs are in town

The Leafs are currently 27-14-2 and leading the Atlantic Division, only the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference standings.

This resurgence has given some hope for a deep playoff run and many believe Craig Berube has positioned Toronto to break through their postseason drought.

Despite his impressive impact, Craig Berube has surprisingly been overlooked in the race for the Jack Adams which is awarded for the coach of the year in the NHL.

A recent ranking by NHL.com writers excluded Berube from the top contenders and it sparked questions about the criteria used for the selections.

The rankings saw Washington's Spencer Carbery ranked first, followed by Winnipeg's Scott Arneil, Minnesota's John Hynes, and Sheldon Keefe, now coaching the New Jersey Devils.

No need to say that seeing Sheldon Keefe there is a big surprise for the Leafs fans.

While Carbery and Arneil have earned recognition for their respective teams' performances, Sheldon Keefe's inclusionover Craig Berube is a bit weird.

The Devils have a worse record than the Maple Leafs and their statistical edge in goals for and against can largely be attributed to star players like Jack Hughes and Jacob Markstrom rather than Keefe's coaching.

Craig Berube has transformed Toronto into one of the league's most defensively sound teams which is the way for championship success.

His efforts deserve far more recognition, especially given the challenges of coaching in a high-pressure market like Toronto.
