Max Pacioretty found himself in some trouble this evening as he hit Detroit Red Wings forward Alex Debrincat with some knee-on-knee contact that sent him to the locker room.

Max Pacioretty gets taken down by Ben Chiarot

Of course, Pacioretty was promptly given a two-minute minor, and he knew right away that he deserved it.

However, Red Wings star Ben Chiarot decided to retaliate and it led to a very interesting situation.

As you can see in the video below, Max Pacioretty was minding his business when Chiarot decided to put him a chokehold and immediately throw him to the ground.

Shockingly, the referees did not give Chiarot a penalty for his actions, which were certainly worthy of at least some form of punishment.

One can imagine just how living Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was about this.

Of course, he knew that Max Pacioretty deserved to go to the box, however, he wanted to see Ben Chiarot get something as well considering the blatant nature of his infraction.

Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs are playing a struggling Detroit Red Wings team and are losing by a score of 1-0, halfway through the game.

Overall, this is a game that Leafs fans believe should be an easy win, and if the Leafs cannot pull it out, then the lines might have to be re-evaluated.

There is still a whole lot of hockey left to be played, so it is probably best to just let things play out instead of jumping to conclusions.
