Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander delivered a cross-check to the face of Florida Panthers star Nate Schmidt and NHL Player Safety had to take a look at it.

During the Maple Leafs' 5-1 blowout loss to the Florida Panthers, Nylander got a bit frustrated in front of the Panthers net and gave a huge shot to Schmidt.

Schmidt ended up falling to the ice in pain and there was a lot of buzz on social media about whether or not Nylander deserved supplemental discipline.

In the past, players have received some pretty massive suspensions for these kinds of actions.

However, when it comes to Nylander, his track record is squeaky clean which makes it more difficult to ding him for any kind of bad behavior.

Well, the NHL Department of Player Safety made its ruling on Thursday, by not saying anything at all.

According to Hockey Patrol, Nylander will not be receiving any kind of supplemental discipline for his hit.

This is going to be good news for the Maple Leafs who cannot afford to lose any more players right now.

On Saturday, the Leafs are taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning and they will likely be getting back players such as Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.

Obviously, this is going to really kick the Leafs offense into gear and fans are excited to see what they can do.

Right now, the Leafs are fighting for the top spot in the Atlantic Division as they boast a record of 13-7-2.

They have also won seven of their last nine games, which is truly impressive.
