Brad Treliving has a tough job for the Maple Leafs, but we are now 35 games into the season, which means the GM must lock in and deliver some changes to the roster.
One of the best ways to do this is via trade, and for the last few weeks, there has been all sorts of speculation about what the Leafs want.
There has been a lot of talk about Treliving securing another Center for the Maple Leafs, especially for the second and third lines.
However, according to Chris Johnston of TSN, one other avenue to go down is that of acquiring a depth defenseman to sure up the blue line.
Two of the names that were brought up by Johnston are Luke Schenn and Ilya Lyubushkin.
These are solid defensemen who could definitely be perfect for a second or third-pairing combination.
They would also solidify the blue line in time for a deep playoff run, where your defense is so important.
Not to mention, it should be noted that Chris Tanev is dealing with an injury right now, while Morgan Rielly is playing some of the worst hockey of his career.
With that in mind, it has become that much more important for the Leafs to go out and find themselves a D-man who can get the job done.
Only time will tell what Brad Treliving is able to do for the team near the trade deadline.
If one thing is for certain, it is that the fans will be scrutinizing his every move.
