The Toronto Maple Leafs have been tied to Scott Laughton for quite some time and Brad Treliving was able to make the deal official at the trade deadline.

Scott Laughton is one of the many centers that the Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking at during the trade deadline period and for good reason.

He is a good depth guy that can be slotted in on the third-line and his 11 goals and 27 points this season would be an improvement on Max Domi.

Toronto Maple Leafs trade for Scott Laughton

Well, according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth period, the trade is now official as the Maple Leafs have made the move and Laughton is a Leaf.

If you are wondering about the return, well, don't worry because we have the official details.

Essentially, the Leafs are sending Nikita Grebenkin and a first-round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers for Scott Laughton.

This first-round pick is a conditional one that will take place in the year 2027. This is a pick that the Leafs knew they would have to trade in order to acquire a center.

The Maple Leafs also only have to pay 50 percent of Laughton's contract. Meanwhile, they were also given a 4th and 6th round pick.

It was believed that in order to acquire Laughton, the Leafs would also need to give up guys like Fraser Minten or Easton Cowan.

Now, we know that this is not the case as the Maple Leafs gave up a gritty prospect who probably wasn't going to contribute for them in the playoffs this year.

For now, it seems as though general manager Brad Treliving is off the hook. He has made a trade and he didn't overpay to make it happen.

That is all Maple Leafs fans could have asked for. Now, it will be interesting to see how Scott Laughton slots in on the third line and what happens to Max Domi as his position has been replaced.
