Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko has been through a lot of injury issues over the years and he is dealing with some again against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Thatcher Demko is a goaltender who has been through a lot of injury issues over the years, much to the chagrin of Canucks fans.

Unfortunately, the goalie has suffered another injury tonight in a huge game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Thatcher Demko injury update

In the first period, Demko was removed from the net and subsequently sent to the locker room.

Meanwhile, Kevin Lankinen was forced to spring into action and could be seen doing a quick warmup before taking the net.

Luckily for the Canucks, they remain up 1-0 in the game after the first 20 minutes.

As for Demko, it is has not been the best season for him in terms of his numbers.

Since coming back from an injury in the offseason, Demko has posted a goals-against average of 2.90 and a save percentage of .889.

Moreover, he has just six wins in 16 games and only one shutout. It is a far cry from what he is expecting of himself.

Only time will tell whether or not Demko returns to the game or if the team stays cautious and just keeps him out of the lineup entirely.

Whatever the case may be, this is the last thing that the Vancouver Canucks fans wanted to see tonight.

Meanwhile, the Leafs will be motivated to get themselves back into this game as they are trying to go for a four-game winning streak before the 4 Nations Face-Off.
