Throughout the past couple of seasons with the Knights, Cowan has proven to be a beast on the ice. He has a 44-game point streak which is just six games away from Alexander Radulov's 50-game streak.
As we approach December, there has been a lot of talk around Team Canada and the World Junior championships. Last season, Cowan was on the team but he was not a huge contributor. Now, however, it seems like Cowan is going to be a huge focal point for the team, which is great news for fans.
According to Craig Button of TSN, it is very likely that Cowan is going to be on the first line of the World Juniors team. This would be a massive development. He would also get to play with Utah Hockey Club prospect, Tij Iginla.
Cowan is a player who has most certainly earned this opportunity. However, it is not going to be easy for him to ensure this spot in the lineup. He still has to go to training camp and perform. Nothing is given or guaranteed.
Despite this, everyone should be excited about the World Juniors. After a poor showing in 2024, the team will be looking to get it going in 2025. If Cowan can be a huge contributor, then Canada will definitely have a more productive tournament, this time around.
