The World Juniors seldom have big upsets, but last night was different as the +4000 odds Team Latvia came through with a 3-2 shootout win over Team Canada to stun the tournament completely.
As you can see in the clip down below, a Latvian player scored the game-winning goal in the eighth round of the shootout.
It was a goal that completely shocked the Canadians, and it is very easy to see why that would be the case.
This upset had a pretty strong connection to the Toronto Maple Leafs, as their favorite prospect, Easton Cowan, was playing for Team Canada.
However, the Canadians let Latvia score another late goal, and that is what ultimately forced the game to keep going.
The rest of the tournament is not going to be easy for Canada, especially as they have to play against Team USA on New Year's Eve.
Last year, Team Canada was ousted early in the tournament, and now, it looks like it could happen again.
For Hockey Canada, this is going to have to be a moment in which they take a hard look at themselves in the mirror.
The rosters they have been pushing are not good, and the goaltending also needs to be a whole lot better.
Only time will tell if Canada can use this as a motivational means to go out and win the tournament.
