Anthony Stolarz had been out since December with a knee injury but tonight, he gets to return against the Seattle Kraken.
This is a huge game for the goalie, and fans are excited to see what he can after missing about six weeks of action.
However, with the goaltender re-entering the lineup, there are some new developments for the Leafs as it pertains to the salary cap.
Now, the team must face some tough decisions as the salary cap has been affected. After all, Stolarz was technically on LTIR which was saving the team some money.
This cap space is precious to the Maple Leafs right now because the team is going into the trade deadline looking to wheel and deal.
General manager Brad Treliving is hoping to get his hands on some premium talent and that may prove to be difficult now.
However, the Leafs have their goalie back and that is enough to be excited about, regardless of what the cap consequences might be for that.
Tonight, we will see exactly how Stolarz responds to being put back into the net, and we can only hope that it will be a successful endeavor for him.
If the Maple Leafs finish with the win, that will make it three wins in a row for the squad.
