Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has been dealing with an injury for a while now and fans have been wondering if he is okay.

This past week, Matthews went to Munich to get the injury looked at, and this led to fears that he may be doing worse than originally believed.

However, it was quickly made clear that he was simply doing this to get the best care possible.

The Maple Leafs are not worried about the injury whatsoever, and they are confident that he will be his usual self again, very soon.

In fact, Matthews was back at Maple Leafs practice today and even skated with the team.

It was revealed by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet that Matthews is hopeful he can return by this upcoming Wednesday.

Auston Matthews gets honest about his injury

Matthews also spoke out about the injury and how it started in the pre-season.

That said, he did not actually tell fans exactly what the injury is. It is still shrouded in mystery right now.

"(The injury) flared up in pre-season, felt better and started getting worse. I just felt it was time to take a step back, re-evaluate. It hasn't neccesarily gotten worse, but wasn't getting better. I wanted to be pro-active."

No matter what, this is going to be good news for all of the Leafs fans out there.

We might finally get Matthews back in the lineup soon and that is a huge reason to celebrate.

Let's just hope he is able to get his production back to where it was last season.
