Craig Berube was the head coach of the St. Louis Blues back in 2019 when the team came out of nowhere in the second half of the season and won the Stanley Cup.
One of the key players on the championship-winning squad was none other than Brayden Schenn, who has been wrapped up in all sorts of trade rumors as of late.
The trade deadline is in a week from today, and it is believed that Schenn is one of the top targets for the Maple Leafs. Even if he may be expensive, analysts believes general manager Brad Treliving wants to acquire him.
Interestingly enough, the center recently celebrated his 1000th game in the NHL, and Craig Berube was asked to comment on that.
This led to some very interesting comments in which the Maple Leafs head coach professed his love for Schenn and the type of player he is.
If you ever needed proof that the Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in Brayden Schenn, then look no further than this right here.
Berube knows exactly what he is doing and this pretty well serves as a message to the front office that he would love to coach the center again.
This season, Schenn has a modest 12 goals and 36 points which would certainly make him the perfect player to add to this team's middle-six.
The Maple Leafs want to make a deep playoff run, and the Blues captain is one of those guys that you can get in the trenches with.
For now, however, the Leafs are trying to get prepared for tonight as the Leafs take on the New York Rangers, looking for four wins in a row.
