Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has been struggling mightily to start the season and now, he is going on the injured reserve.

For those who did not know, Kampf is one of three players on the Maple Leafs who have over 200 minutes played but 0 goals.

The other two players in this boat are Pontus Holmberg and even Max Domi.

Today, Kampf got some even more bad news as he was officially placed on the injured reserve for a lower-body injury.

One could make the argument that perhaps this injury is what was giving Kampf some issues throughout the early portion of the NHL season.

In Kampf's place, the Maple Leafs have decided to call up prospect Fraser Minten, who has been with the Toronto Marlies over the past few days.

Fraser Minten in, David Kampf out

"The Maple Leafs have placed F David Kämpf on IR (lower body) retroactive to November 16.

F Fraser Minten has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL)."

Minten is a fan favorite as far as prospects are concerned. Leafs fans have been waiting for this moment for a very long time.

Of course, there is no telling whether or not Minten even gets any playing time. After all, he could end up being a scratch while he is around.

Regardless, he will get to practice with the team and this should prove to be very valuable for him in terms of learning lessons.

Hopefully, we will get at least a few minutes from Minten over the coming games.

With the bottom six struggling, it's not like this would be a bad idea for the Leafs to test out.
