Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has been having a career night against the Boston Bruins and it was highlighted by a truly impressive hat trick.

Over the last few weeks or so, Knies has been struggling to produce, and it led to him being called out by his head coach, Craig Berube.

Thankfully, it seems as though the forward has completely broken out of his slump and has gotten back to his old ways.

Matthew Knies has a career night for the Toronto Maple Leafs

At the time of writing this, the Toronto Maple Leafs are up 4-3 on the Boston Bruins with just a few minutes to go in the third period.

In the second period, Matthew Knies got on the board to give his team a 2-0 lead, and it came from a beautiful tip off of a shot from Auston Matthews.

In the third period, Knies opened the scoring by delivering perhaps the most beautiful goal of his entire career.

He glided past the defense and spun around with the puck before sliding it underneath the pad of Jeremy Swayman. He did this while essentially looking in the opposite direction.

On the ensuing shift, the Boston Bruins tied up the game at 3-3 which left Knies yearning for more.

Below, you can see his hat trick goal which was a beauty that went bar down. It turned out to be Knies' first career hat trick.

When you have Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner as your linemates, your life certainly becomes a whole lot easier.

With Matthews suffering from an injury, Knies has not had consistent linemates aside from Mitch Marner.

Clearly, the captain's return has had a huge positive impact on his game.
