Ekman-Larsson is a defenseman who was brought in this season as a way to give the Maple Leafs some depth as well as some much-needed stability on the blueline.
During the first period of the Maple Leafs' game against the Buffalo Sabres, Oliver Ekman-Larsson took a puck to the groin area.
He was looking to block a shot, and in the end, he ended up getting clipped in a very sensitive area that you never want to be hit in.
Subsequently, Ekman-Larsson escaped to the locker room, as he was in too much pain to continue.
Thankfully, just a few minutes later, Ekman-Larsson returned the ice after taking some time to himself.
It's clear that the initial shock of the impact left him in pain and that he needed to go somewhere so that he could settle himself down.
So far, this has been a phenomenal game for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they are up 2-0 at the end of the first period.
Bobby McMann and Auston Matthews are the two goalscorers for the Leafs, while Matt Murray has been solid so far.
Overall, this is a great showing, but the team still has to finish it out, as nothing is guaranteed in the National Hockey League.
Having said that, we are just glad to see that Oliver Ekman-Larsson is okay and surviving his little incident.
