Maple Leafs Forward Matthew Knies Gets Brutally Honest About His Injury Issues
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies has been banged up quite a bit this season and you can't help but sympathize with what he has been through injury wise.
Matthew Knies has been one of the most impressive players on the Maple Leafs this season although there is no doubt he has had some injury problems.
Is Matthew Knies dealing with an injury?
Most recently, he had a head and shoulder injury that kept him out of the Maple Leafs lineup for a couple of games.
However, he is back now and has been pretty good throughout this West Coast road trip.
Last night, the Leafs lost and Knies could be seen nursing some of his injuries on the team's bench. After the game, he admitted to the media that he is excited about the two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off.
«Yeah, I think just getting 100% healthy. Getting all the bumps and bruises out, kicking the feet up a little bit is definitely going to help me"
Knies followed up these comments saying that he is excited to get back on the ice but he also values some time off to relax and regroup.
«I'm still a younger player and just my second season and I know it's a long long year but yeah it's going to be nice to just relax and take your mind off hockey for a little bit. I'm sure it's only going to be a few days before I'm already itching to go back on the ice"
The Leafs are a team that is in the hunt for a Stanley Cup and it is very important that these guys stay healthy at all costs.
It is not easy to have to deal with constant injury issues and Knies is someone who can definitely attest to that.
He is a player that sits on the top line which means he is important to the team's success and they would much rather him be healthy once that postseason rolls around.
