Matthew Knies Reveals Where he Stands with the Maple Leafs Ahead of Free Agency
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies is a free agent this summer, and many fans are wondering whether or not he is going to re-sign with the franchise.
Matthew Knies has proven to be a fantastic player for the Maple Leafs and that was especially true today against the Pittsburgh Penguins as he managed a goal and an assist.
The young forward has gotten to play with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner this season, which has led to some inspired play from the kid.

However, he also has to negotiate a new contract and with Marner as well as John Tavares also looking for new deals, there is some worry that Knies may not get something done.
Well, while speaking to Jonny Lazarus of The Daily Faceoff, the Arizona native made it very clear that he hasn't really had time to think about his free agency plans.
"I can't say I've thought about it too much," Knies said. "There's not many games left until the playoffs. I think that's something that's going to get figured out in the summer, and that's when I can put more thought into it."
However, fans should not panic. While Knies does acknowledge that his deal will get the summer, he also notes that he wants to remain with the Leafs, and so do Marner and Tavares.
"I'm sure [Marner and Tavares are] getting a lot more attention for it, but I think they're on the same page as me. I don't think we're worried about it; we all want to stay, and we're all going to try to figure out how we can manage to all stay here."
Matthew Knies has improved quite a bit this season, and has 40 points in 56 games while also scoring 23 goals.
These are the kinds of numbers that you want to see from your young guys, and it is going to be fun to see if he can keep this going in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Leafs are now on a five-game winning streak since the 4 Nations Face-Off and they continue to show the league that they mean some serious business going forward.
