Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner made some truly absurd comments after last night's loss to the Vancouver Canucks and Maple Leafs fans are livid about it.

Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 3-0 on Saturday night and it was easily the team's worst effort of the season.

However, you wouldn't have guessed that based on the out-of-touch comments that Marner made after the game.

Mitch Marner has upset Toronto Maple Leafs fans

Speaking to reporter Terry Koshan, the Maple Leafs leading scorer said the team actually put up a good fight and that certain plays just didn't go their way.

"I liked it. I thought we played well, I really did. The last couple of games, we've been giving up plays to teams that aren't missing on them."

One knock against Marner over the years is that he has a very hard time being accountable and this was a great example of that.

In fact, some fans were absolutely livid with the assistant captain, noting how despite all of the playoff losses over the years, he hasn't really learned anything.

There were others who felt as though it would be justified to let Marner walk in the offseason when he becomes a free agent.

If the Maple Leafs want to win a Stanley Cup, they need to completely change their mentality because whatever this is, is not good enough.

The Leafs get to play the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, so perhaps the team will get their stuff together after a few days off.

Either way, Marner needs to be better and he also needs to start changing his mentality before it is too late.
