For months now, the narrative has been that General Manager Brad Treliving would like to get a third-line center that would take some of the pressure off of Max Domi.
Moreover, it would take the pressure off of Auston Matthews and John Tavares who are carrying the top two lines right now.
Some of the names that have been mentioned are the likes of Brock Nelson, Yanni Gourde, and even Mikael Granlund.
According to Jonas Siegel and Chris Johnston, there are some other centers available, and two of them are even former Maple Leafs players.
In that case, we are talking about Ryan O'Reilly and Nazem Kadri. Although these two players feel more like wishful thinking than anything else.
Guys like Trent Frederic, Charlie Coyle, Scott Laughton, Nick Bjugstad, and even Ryan Strome are also very interesting options here.
However, no one knows what the Leafs will have to give up to get these kinds of returns. For instance, it has been said that Brock Nelson would require a first-round pick which is a bit expensive.
The Leafs are a team that as constructed, can make a deep run in the postseason. However, an extra center would be very nice.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs shake things up and make a massive move.
