Vyacheslav Peksa has been playing games with the Toronto Marlies and the Cincinnati Cyclones this season but his results have not been up to par.

Peksa is a goaltender who was picked up by the Leafs back in 2023 and has mostly been part of the ECHL system for the better part of those years.

However, this season, he got an opportunity to play a couple of games with the Marlies to show off what he can do.

Vyacheslav Peksa is far away from the NHL

Unfortunately for Peksa, these games were not exactly the most fruitful experiences imaginable.

In his two games, he had a 3.77 GAA and a .878 SV%. Ultimately, the team was not impressed with these numbers and they elected to send him back down to the Cyclones.

Having said that, his numbers with the Cyclones have not been much better. He has a 3-8-2 record with a 3.20 GAA and .875 SV%.

To be fair, the kid is just 22 years old and still has a lot to learn when it comes to the North American game.

Regardless, it is going to take a very long time before Peksa is ready to play in the AHL and compete with guys like Matt Murray and Dennis Hildeby.

Whether or not he is ever going to play in the NHL is also up for debate, although it is too early to tell.

Goalies take a longer time to develop, especially if they are coming from overseas.

The Leafs will just have to give the kid some grace and wait and see before jumping to any unjust conclusions.
