Buffalo came into last night's game with 11 straight losses, and the Toronto Maple Leafs made that 12 with a 6-3 victory that had everyone on the team scoring some goals.
The Sabres are located in a fantastic hockey city and despite the team's struggles, the KeyBank Center is always well-packed.
However, the team is also very close to Toronto, which means the arena was overrun by Leafs fans who were ready to pounce on the first sign of weakness.
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, fans in the building began to chant "Go Leafs Go" as the team took a 5-1 lead halfway through the second period.
These chants did eventually die down as the Sabres began to show some worrying signs of life as the game went on.
When the score was 5-3 with over three minutes to go, the Sabres scored a fourth on Matt Murray, however, it turns out that there was goaltender interference.
Speaking of Murray, last night was his first win in the NHL since April of 2023, and it had to have felt pretty good.
Meanwhile, the Leafs third line continued to roll as Max Domi, Bobby McMann, and Nicholas Robertson all picked up a goal.
It was a truly sensational night for the team, and now, they have a solid record of 21-10-2 which puts them first place in the Atlantic Division.
Tonght, the Leafs will go again as they take on the New York Islanders, a team that has also been struggling quite a bit so far this season.
