Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk made his 4 Nations Face-Off debut on Thursday and he was not happy with how his National Anthem was treated.

Team USA played its first game of the 4 Nations Face-Off on Thursday night against Team Finland in Montreal.

Matthew Tkachuk had himself a sensational night as he and his brother Brady were able to team up and combine for four goals.

Matthew Tkachuk on the National Anthem controversy

Overall, it was a blowout win with the Americans taking a 6-1 victory over a Finnish team that had a lot of problems with injuries coming into it.

However, prior to the game, the Canadian fans in Montreal became a story of their own as they booed the American National Anthem.

This was expected, especially since we had seen this behavior for weeks following the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

That does not mean the players like it, as Matthew Tkachuk was very up front in his feelings, saying "I didn't like it. That's all I got.»

Tkachuk recently went to the White House for the Stanley Cup visit with the Florida Panthers and he seemed quite fond of the new President.

With that in mind, it should not come as a surprise that Tkachuk would be among the most offended by this recent move.

Whatever the case may be, Saturday's game between Team Canada and Team USA might come with a ton of animosity.

After all, these are the two teams favored to go to the Championship and we could be getting a preview.
