Team Canada forward Brad Marchand recently spoke about the American National Anthem being booed at the 4 Nations Face-Off by the fans in Montreal.

Brad Marchand is used to being booed in Montreal, however, at the 4 Nations Face-Off, he was met with some rare cheers and ovations.

Something that is being booed at the tournament, is the American National Anthem, aka the Star-Spangled Banner.

This has led to a debate about whether or not it is right for fans to do this and whether or not anthems should just be axed from sporting events period.

When asked about the controversy, Marchand noted that he feels bad for the American players. Moreover, he believes the players are being blamed for the political state of the world, which isn't right.

"They should not be booing the Americans during that anthem. They have nothing to do with the political things that are going on. I do feel bad for those guys in that moment. I don't think it's right."

Canadians are very prideful and they very clearly do not appreciate the President of the United States threatening to annex the country.

Overall, that would be a massive reason to boo an anthem, and you cannot blame Canadian fans for being upset.

Having said that, the American players have every right to be angry as well and there is no telling if there will be a solution to this.

With the tournament heading to Boston, one has to wonder if O'Canada will get the same treatment.
