Jordan Binnington was the starting goalie against Team Sweden on Wednesday night and despite a couple of weak goals, he made some huge saves in overtime.
Following the overtime win, there was a debate about whether or not Adin Hill should get the start against Team USA.
Head coach Jon Cooper has been tasked with the decision, and according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Team Canada is sticking with the hot hand.
Binnington will be getting the call against the Americans, who are very likely to start superstar goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
It will be a very difficult challenge for Binnington, although this is a goaltender who willed the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup win back in 2019.
Binnington has had a difficult season with the St. Louis Blues as he has a save percentage of .897 and a goals-against average of 2.89.
However, he does have three shutouts which shows he is a guy who can still get you some big games when you need them.
This will easily be Canada's toughest test of the tournament so far and if they win, they could lock themselves into the championship game.
That said, a loss would put their fate into the hands of Team USA and Sweden, which is not idea.
Simply put, go out there and try to earn three points. It is the easiest way to guarantee yourself some success.
