When the Maple Leafs signed Max Pacioretty, they knew that he was going to be an older player who is particularly prone to injuries.
However, you always hope and pray that the player you sign is going to be just fine and remain on his two feet throughout the season.
Thirteen games into the year, Pacioretty suffered a leg injury while playing against his old team, the Montreal Canadiens.
Overall, this proved to be an unfortunate situation, and since that time, Pacioretty has been rehabbing his leg while other Leafs players have also gotten the injury bug.
On Monday, however, Pacioretty was a participant at Morning Skate alongside Max Domi.
This created some optimism around the fanbase as it pertains to Pacioretty and his injury recovery.
Unfortunately, Craig Berube brought the fans back down to earth extremely fast.
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Craig Berube told reporters that Pacioretty was not close to returning to the team despite hopping on the ice.
While this is not the greatest news for the Toronto Maple Leafs, it is still a demonstration that Pacioretty is slowly but surely getting better.
In his 13 games with the team this season, Pacioretty scored two goals and had four assists. Compared to some of the other forwards on the team, Pacioretty had been very productive.
Since his injury, the Maple Leafs have gone on quite the streak, winning eight of their last 10.
At the time of writing this, the Leafs are defeating the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 3-1 in the third period. A win would increase their record to 15-7-2.
