Overall, McMann had been playing at a high level, however, much like other Maple Leafs stars, he now has to go through a rehab process before returning to the ice.
Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies will be back in the Maple Leafs lineup on Saturday, which is certainly a positive development.
However, when it comes to John Tavares and Mitch Marner, they now need a new linemate. After all, you can't play with just two players on a line.
At practice today, that linemate just so happened to be none other than Pontus Holmberg.
Ultimately, this is an undeserved look for Holmberg. This season, he has struggled mightily and only has a total of three points in 20 games.
Overall, he has one goal and it was only scored just a few games ago.
This is hardly a performance that warrants a player to get onto the first line, but here we are.
As for McMann, well, he is currently day-to-day and Craig Berube believes he will have to miss a couple of games.
Over the last nine games, the team has gone 7-2 and their overall record is 13-7-2 which leaves them at the top of the Atlantic Division.
They will look to get back in the win column on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
