Mitch Marner and Team Canada defeated Team Sweden and William Nylander on Wednesday night in the inaugural game of the 4 Nations Face-Off.
It is rare that Marner actually scores a clutch goal, but while wearing the red leaf on the international stage, the Maple Leafs forward was able to get it done.
Teammates are being turned into rivals at this tournament as Auston Matthews is currently playing for Team USA.
It is an odd situation for everyone involved, however, William Nylander seems to be okay with the new predicament.
In fact, when asked about Mitch Marner's OT goal, the Swedish Maple Leafs superstar noted just how happy he is for Mitchy, even if it came at the expense of his team.
Today is the biggest of the tournament so far as Team Finland and Team Sweden play each other this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Team Canada and Team USA will play tonight in what could very well be a preview of the championship game.
No matter what, this is going to be very fun to watch and hockey fans around the world are being treated to some phenomenal best-on-best hockey.
Let's just hope the rest of the game are close, unlike that USA/Finland stinker we got just a few days ago.
