While taking to social media, the superfan noted that the sponsor told him that if he continued to drink another beer brand in his videos, they would hit him with a lawsuit. However, he could change to their brand and continue doing his thing.
In the video, Kurtis noted that he would simply stop making videos. He doesn't want to go up against a huge corporation, and would rather not do something that doesn't actually represent his love of beer. Many fans are upset at the decision from the team's sponsor, and Kurtis is getting a ton of attention and support.
For instance, Budweiser, the brand he loves the most, took to Instagram to give Kurtis a shoutout. This is really cool and it shows that Budweiser has been paying attention to everything that is going on.
It remains to be seen whether or not Budweiser is going to come out and say anything else. Moreover, many are curious to see if the Maple Leafs will speak to their sponsor and end all of this.
Some believe that because Kurtis is independent, he shouldn't have to deal with this kind of thing. However, brands are protective of their intellectual property, so it remains to be seen what happens.
