Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jani Hakanpaa has missed the start of the season as he has been dealing with a knee injury that kept him on long-term injured reserve.

Recently, Hakanpaa got some hope as he was taken off of LTIR and sent down to the Toronto Marlies for a conditioning stint.
Overall, this conditioning stint proved to be successful. Hakanpaa got to play a couple of games and for the most part, he did very well.

During this stint, Hakanpaa also got to play with Connor Dewar, who was also on LTIR. Fans were excited to find out that both players were finally off LTIR, and rightfully so.

Last night, the Leafs played the Ottawa Senators and lost by a score of 3-0. Today, the Leafs are playing against the Washington Capitals.

Prior to this game, the Leafs decided to make a key roster decision in regard to Hakanpaa. He has officially been recalled from his conditioning stint.

Jani Hakanpaa is back

"Maple Leafs D Jani Hakanpää has been recalled from LTIR conditioning loan and activated from LTIR."

Of course, you should not expect Hakanpaa to actually play tonight. It is too late of a notice for him to get into the lineup.

Having said that, on Saturday, the Edmonton Oilers are coming into town, so perhaps then we will get a glimpse of Hakanpaa.

Until then, the Leafs and their fans will have to hold tight. Of course, this upcoming game against the Capitals will get some attention.

The Senators did a number on the Leafs last night, and now, fans want to see the team go out and actually compete.
