The 21-year-old prospect Nikita Grebenkin made his NHL debut memorable by contributing one shot, four hits and 11:05 of ice time in the victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.

As seen on The Hockey News, called up from the Marlies after Max Domi went on IR, Nikita Grebenkin took place on the third line with Fraser Minten and Nick Robertson for the Leafs.

Grebenkin's enthusiasm was evident from the moment he arrived, as reported by Joseph Woll.

"Grebs was so happy all day today. I think he was the first one here this morning and waltzing in all smiling," said Joseph Woll, who stopped all 31 shots for the shutout on Wednesday.

Even if he didn't score, Grebenkin gained a lot of attention for his spirited play and engaging type of game.

A real power forward!

He is known for his antics during preseason, such as hyping the crowd after a fight and he then quickly became a fan favorite.

His 10 points in 13 AHL games this season show that even if he's recognized as a physical player, he has offensive potential too.

His teammates, including Fraser Minten, praised his attitude:

"He's lots of fun. He's a fun guy. He loves hockey. He's really competitive," said Fraser Minten, a teammate of Grebenkin's down in the AHL, who's now up with the Maple Leafs too.

"His English just keeps getting better and you learn a little more about him every day and he's lots of fun."

With injuries plaguing the Leafs, Grebenkin, Minten and Alex Steeves may have good opportunities to show their capabilities.

Grebenkin's humorous mantra - "Backcheck, forecheck, and paycheck" - reflects his drive to have an impact under head coach Craig Berube.
