Upon getting hit, Knies went back to the locker room and was placed under the concussion protocol.
As for Whitecloud, he sustained a much different fate as he was originally assessed a major penalty.
However, the penalty was ultimately called back with a controversial decision of the hit being deemed clean.
Based on the video below, Whitecloud clearly leaves his feet, but the officials didn't really seem to care all that much.
Following the hit, the Sportsnet panel spoke about it all during the ensuing intermission report.
As you can see down below, many on the panel claimed that this was a clean hit and Whitecloud actually did nothing wrong.
Unfortunately for Sportsnet, fans were not appreciate of this take whatsoever. Instead, fans were completely livid that such a take would be broadcasted.
As you can see, even Montreal Canadiens fans were calling out Sportsnet for what appears to be bias.
At this point, the NHL seems to be extremely inconsistent when it comes to their calls.
They want to eliminate dirty hits from the game, but let things like this slide. One has to wonder what is going on here.
Thankfully, for the Leafs, they won the game 3-0. They have now won six of their last seven and boast a record of 12-6-2.
