Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs lost by a score of 4-2 last night against the St. Louis Blues in a game that they will want to quickly forget.

Overall, it was a decent enough night for guys like Mitch Marner. Marner came into the game with an eight-game goalless streak. However, he ended up getting the first goal of the night which helped him break the streak.

From there, the Blues proved to be the better team and the Leafs just fell flat on their faces as the game went on. However, there was a moment when Matthews got to flex his leadership skills. It all started when Marner got a late shove from Ryan Suter.

Matthews skated over the Suter and a scrum began. Unfortunately, Matthews was the one to get hit with a penalty, which is certainly just a tad annoying. Either way, it was a great moment for Matthews' captaincy.

Auston Matthews isn't taking any BS

There were more fights throughout the game as things continued to get chippy. After a 5-1 loss to the Blues earlier in the season, it was clear that there was some frustration brewing.

As for head coach Craig Berube, his return to St. Louis was not the success story he was hoping it to be. Either way, the fans got a show, and it was a lot of fun to witness. Hopefully, the leafs can regroup and get it together for the next game.
