Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares reached a very special milestone on Tuesday night, matching legendary players like Alexander Ovechkin and Patrick Kane.

John Tavares has been on an absolute tear this season and last night against the Philadelphia Flyers, he reached an impressive milestone that only 32 players have ever touched.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares does it again

During the second period of last night's game, Tavares scored on the power play, which just so happened to be his 20th of the season.

It was a historic night given the fact that this was the former captain's 15th 20-goal season.

He is now the 32nd player in NHL history to reach this milestone and if this season has been any indication, he is showing no signs of slowing down.

In fact, this new milestone puts him on the same level as guys such as Patrick Kane and Alexander Ovechkin.

Ovi has had 15 20-goal seasons since the 2009-2010 campaign, however, he has a total of 19 for his entire career.

Meanwhile, Tavares actually surpassed Kane during that time span as the Detroit Red Wings forward has 14 20-goal seasons.

Tavares now has 42 points this season which is a torrid pace considering his age and all that has happened since the offseason.

Sure, he lost the captaincy, but he has not let that affect his game whatsoever and you have to admit just how admirable that is.

Only time will tell if Tavares can keep this up as the season goes on.
