This has put the Leafs in a terrible position as it is pushing their costs higher and higher.
With every new call-up, they have gotten closer and closer to surpassing the NHL salary cap.
This is not a good position to be in, and today, it got worse as Max Domi was put on injured reserve, while Nikita Grebenkin was called up.
According to The Hockey News, this move put the Leafs in a very bad situation as far as the salary cap is concerned.
For instance, the team was about $87K over the cap, and had to make a drastic move to make sure that Grebenkin was eligible to be on the roster.
Essentially, they had no choice but to put David Kampf on the long-term injured reserve.
Now, he will only be able to return in the middle of December. However, what is good about this is the fact that his salary cannot count against the cap.
In addition to Grebenkin, players like Alex Steeves and Fraser Minten have also been called up to play with the Leafs.
Many of these players are going to get to play tonight as the Leafs take on the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Overall, this game should be a whole lot of fun. Why? Well, because the Leafs have won five of their last six.
They currently boast a record of 11-6-2 and continue to improve each and every game.
With all of these injuries, it will be interesting to see whether or not the Leafs can keep up their solid play.
