Toronto Maple Leaf goaltender Anthony Stolarz has been out for close to a month now and today, Craig Berube offered up an update on the netminder's condition.

Prior to his injury, Anthony Stolarz had been an absolute stud for the Toronto Maple Leafs posting a 2.15 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.

It was originally reported that the goaltender would need a procedure to remove something from his knee and that a recovery would take four to six weeks.

This means Stolarz could be back in the lineup as soon as the end of January, and head coach Craig Berube's latest comments certainly align with that timeline.

According to Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox, Berube confirmed this morning that the hope for Stolar is that he begins skating on his own next week.

He would essentially be easing himself back into game shape, and it is definitely encouraging that we have gotten to this point.

It is here where Stolarz will be able to truly test out his knee and see if it is actually good enough to start taking shots and getting into game situations.

Overall, it is never the right move to rush a goaltender back into the lineup, so you have to appreciate this approach from the Maple Leafs.

In Stolarz's absence, guys like Joseph Woll and Dennis Hildeby have actually been quite good.

Hildeby will be starting tonight against the Vancouver Canucks and fans are interested to see how both teams are going to come out.

If one thing is for certain, it is that the Leafs have no shortage of goaltenders in their ranks.
