Over the years, much has been said about the NHL and its alleged double standard against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
While it is hard to prove any bias, there is no doubt that things are starting to become a bit too obvious. At the very least, there is a double standard at play here.
We say this because last night, Matthew Knies was lit up by Las Vegas Golden Knights player Zach Whitecloud.
Knies had to go onto concussion protocol, while Whitecloud did not receive a penalty.
Although he was assessed a major penalty at first, the penalty was rescinded following a video review.
This has led to a whole lot of discourse concerning the Maple Leafs and whether or not George Parros and the Department of Player Safety have a vendetta against the franchise.
As the fan below pointed out, Whitecloud's hit on Knies looked a lot like Reaves' hit on Nurse.
However, in one instance, the Maple Leafs player got five games, and in the other, no penalty was assessed whatsoever.
Either way, the Toronto Maple Leafs don't need any help from the referees or anyone else, mind you.
They were able to defeat the Las Vegas Golden Knights by a score of 3-0 and it was their sixth win in the last seven games.
Moreover, the team currently has a record of 12-6-2, which is pretty good considering it was 6-5-7 prior to the Auston Matthews injury.
