The Toronto Maple Leafs have a very busy week ahead of them and it has called for a detailed plan involving their current starting goaltender, Joseph Woll.

Joseph Woll started the season injured although once he returned, he started to play some of the best hockey of his career.

Unfortunately, since an injury to Anthony Stolarz, the goaltender has suffered a decline in his play, and the Leafs need him to get back to his old ways.

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray must answer the call

This week is especially difficult for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they take on the New York Islanders on Tuesday and Thursday.

Subsequently, the team must play against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night, with a quick turnaround against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday night.

According to Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun, the plan for Joseph Woll is to have him play two in a row against New York and then split the double-header over the weekend.

The expectation for the Leafs' goaltending ahead is that Joseph Woll will start three of the next four games, while either Matt Murray or Dennis Hildeby will likely play in one of the games next weekend during the back-to-back at home against Boston and Philadelphia.

The Leafs aim is to prevent overworking Woll, particularly because Anthony Stolarz is still recovering from a knee injury and is likely to be sidelined for at least another month.

However, it remains to be seen who Woll will be splitting all of this action with.

We say that because Matt Murray was sent back to the minors today in favor of Dennis Hildeby.

The last time this happened, it was so that Murray could circumvent waivers, although, after a bad game against Washington, there is speculation that this was more of a permanent move.

It seems as though the fans prefer Hildeby right now, although there is no telling how Craig Berube feels about all of this.

No matter what, it is going to be up to Joseph Woll to elevate his play, going forward.
