The Toronto Maple Leafs have been given an impossibly difficult schedule this season and the NHL is to blame for the sheer number of back-to-backs the team plays.
Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the Washington Capitals in the second half of a back-to-back and it has led to a deeper conversation about the team's schedule.

As is typically the case with any NHL season, some teams have easier schedules than others.
However, as it pertains to the Toronto Maple Leafs, it has become clear that they have one of the toughest schedules in the entire league.
One fan even pointed out on social media that the Leafs are at the top of the league in back-to-backs with 16 over the course of the season.
They have already participated in nine back-to-backs which is a stark contrast to the Washington Capitals, who only have to deal with eight all season long.
What makes this even more interesting is the fact that all three games against the Capitals so far have come in back-to-backs.
Perhaps that can be a main factor in determining why the Maple Leafs were flat in these particular matches.
Whatever the case may be, the Leafs are just going to have to go with the punches and do what they can.
They can't make excuses, as this is a roster that is expected to go far and maybe even content for a Stanley Cup.
