Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has been dealing with a weird injury that fans have been quite concerned about.

Overall, it is an injury that the Maple Leafs have mostly kept under wraps.

However, this week, Matthews elicited a ton of concern when it was revealed that he went to Munich, Germany to get treatment.

Thankfully, Matthews was back on the ice today and he will likely return to the Leafs lineup by Wednesday.

Recently, fellow American Jack Eichel spoke out about the injury to Matthews and what the star is doing to get himself right.

Eichel has massive respect for Matthews and understands he has to do whatever he can to get himself in a good head space.

Jack Eichel on Auston Matthews

"I think it's important. You have to express what you feel comfortable with and what you feel is the best treatment, whatever that might be. I feel like guys are more open, and you know what, teams are more open to it too. I think that's an important part as well," Eichel said.

"I think teams are communicating well with players and giving them the chance to see the people they want to see and I think that's been a big part of it as well. I think it goes both ways. It's good that he's been able to get the treatment that he needs, or wants. Hopefully, he can get healthy.

"I had a similar situation here years ago with my neck surgery. The [Vegas] organization was super supportive of what I wanted to do, so I give him a ton of credit on that."

At this stage, it remains to be seen how Matthews will play upon his return.

However, fans are feeling pretty good about it as the team is confident that this trip to Munich has gotten him into a good place.

Only time will tell what is next for the Maple Leafs captain.
