The Nylander brothers shared a memorable moment Sunday night after suiting up together for the Toronto Maple Leafs in their 3-2 comeback victory over Utah HC.

The game ticked a dream come true for Alex Nylander who just recently signed a one-year contract with the Leafs.

The brothers briefly shared the ice during the 2016 World Junior Championship, but Sunday's game offered a special opportunity to play together in the NHL blue and white.

During warmups, they posed for a photo showing identical "NYLANDER" nameplates.

Head coach Craig Berube ensured they shared some shifts, which included time together on the power play and William netting the game-winning breakaway goal.

«Just an amazing feeling. It's something I'll remember forever,» said Alex, whose promotion to the big club only arrived after seven regular Leafs forwards became unavailable.

«I obviously just got to work hard every shift. Be heavy on the forecheck. Win battles. And when I do that, the rest of my game comes. Obviously, try to use my shot as much as possible and create plays and be good defensively.»

Despite Alex's solid debut with two shots in 10:37 of ice time, it's uncertain if he'll stay with the Leafs for another game.

With Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies approaching returns form injury returns, Alex faces competition in the deep forward group of the Leafs.

Nonetheless, the reunion added a sentimental note to Toronto's dominant stretch, improving to 7-1 without Matthews.

The Nylanders became the first brothers in over 37 years to play together for the Leafs, following duos like Barry and Brian Cullen.

During this time, Fraser Minten's choice to wear a neck guard highlights growing safety awareness in the league and this is what he had to say about it :

«It feels normal now,» he says. «Why not, if it gives you a little less risk?»
