At this stage, no one really knows when Auston Matthews is going to be returning to the lineup.
He is currently in Munich, Germany where he is seeing a specialist for his injured upper-body.
As for Marner, he has been doing a phenomenal job of carrying the team's production. He even scored a game-winning goal against Edmonton on Saturday.
Having said that, the team is dealing with numerous injuries right now and they are getting out of hand.
Max Pacioretty is out and so is David Kampf. The team needs to shift the lines around, and Craig Berube is weighing all of his options.
According to Mark Masters, Berube even asked Marner if he would be interested in shifting to the center position.
Like a good leader would, Marner made it clear that he has no issue with assuming the position. He knows it could be a huge benefit to the team.
At this current stage, there is no guarantee that Marner will have to play center. After all, William Nylander also wants to have some reps at center.
While injuries may be an issue, there is no denying that this Leafs team is loaded with talent, which certainly makes up for the problems.
Tonight, the team will be taking on the Las Vegas Golden Knights, a team that has had some ups and downs so far this year.
Meanwhile, the Leafs are on a nice little run as they have won five of their last six.
Furthermore, they have a record of 11-6-2 which puts them high up in the Atlantic Division standings.
