Mitch Marner threw some punches and many are pleasantly surprised
Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs is someone who you would never expect to actually get into a physical altercation.
Throughout the course of his career, Marner has been a pacifist. He isn't the type of guy you would go to for some physical play. Overall, this has led to a lot of clowning over the years. Some people find him soft and that he doesn't play a gritty style of hockey that most find appealing.
That said, last night against the Minnesota Wild, Marner showed some rare signs of life, and fans were definitely appreciative of it. As you can see down below, he threw some punches against Joel Eriksson Ek, of the Wild. The referee broke it up, but coming from Marner, this was a shocking display.

After the game, fans reacted to the move by Marner. While some are skeptical that he will keep this up all season long, there are others who believe he will be able to prove a lot of people wrong.

Unfortunately, for the Leafs, this all came in a loss to the Wild. The team fell by a score of 2-1 in overtime, and many fans felt like the effort from the team was less than stellar. Either way, we like what we are seeing from Marner, and we hope he has more of it in the tank.
