Over the last six to seven decades, the Boston Bruins have had the Maple Leafs' number and for a lot of fans in Toronto, it has been absolutely frustrating.
The Bruins have had the playoff success, the Stanley Cups, and they have also proven to have much better luck when it comes to comebacks and others supernatural occurrences.
Well, last night, the Maple Leafs were finally able to turn the tide as they broke a curse that has existed for a whopping 62 years.
After being down 3-0 in the second period, the team was able to mount an epic comeback that was capped off by a Mitch Marner overtime goal to give the Leafs a 5-4 win.
As it turns out, this was the first time since 1963 that the Maple Leafs came back from down 3-0 while playing in Boston. How about that for exercising some demons?
Unfortunately, the win did come with some pretty significant setbacks, especially as it pertains to injuries.
Firstly, Chris Tanev left the game early with a shoulder problem and he was seen with his right arm in a sling after the game.
Meanwhile, William Nylander missed out on the overtime period because he was dealing with something, according to head coach Craig Berube.
While the Leafs did get banged up throughout the evening, they were able to come away with a pretty significant win that should impress their fans moving forward.
This team is different under Craig Berube. They don't give up leads. Instead, they make comebacks. That is something we are not used to seeing from the team, and this effort will go a long way.
