Pacioretty immediately left the ice after going down in the first period. Subsequently, he never came back into the game as doctors continued to look at him.
Eventually, it was revealed that Pacioretty would only get a diagnosis in a few days. Of course, today was the day that fans were looking at in terms of a concrete update.
Reporting from Darren Dreger made it pretty clear that the injury was a bad one and that Pacioretty would have to miss quite a bit of time.
Today, the Leafs confirmed as such as they revealed that Pacioretty is now out for a few weeks due to a lower body injury. He has also been placed on the injured reserve.
It was also announced that William Nylander and Max Domi are not practicing today. Thankfully, this is not a serious issue.
Both players are simply taking a maintenance day off. They need an extra day to get their bodies to recover. But moving forward, they are going to be just fine.
This week will be an interesting one for the Leafs. They hope to get Auston Matthews back soon.
Not to mention, they are currently on a three-game winning streak and are set to take on the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night in the battle of Ontario. This could prove to be a huge matchup and if the Leafs win, it will propel them further in the Atlantic Division.
As for Pacioretty, we hope he has a smooth recovery. You never want to see a player go through something like this.
